Volunteer Opportunities
The Pacific Ethnographic depends on a multitude of volunteers to fulfill it's mission. Become deeply involved with our work by donating your time for a particular project.
Docent
Welcome visitors to our exhibits and answer questions and staff our future exhibits & museum shop.
Exhibits are currently under project proposal for future installation.
Special Events
On-Site Events: Help with on-site exhibit openings, receptions, and other public events and programs.
Events are generally held weekday evenings or weekend.
Off-Site Events: Help with off-site fundraisers, including private donor events and the Annual Founding Members Circle Gala.
Archival and Material Culture Collection Projects
Working with Archives and Artifact collections. Duties may include organizing materials, data entry, and assisting researchers. Training provided.
Curatorial Assistant | Research Assistant
Help mount and remove exhibits; this entails some manual labor (such as painting) but will give volunteers experience in the nuts-and-bolts of museum exhibit work. Assist Curator in all aspects of curatorial duties. Commitment requested: duration of single exhibition preparation (generally from 1 to 6 months).
Assist exhibit curators identify, locate, and track objects used in the exhibits.
Commitment requested: duration of single exhibition preparation (generally from 1 to 6 months).
Possible volunteer opportunities include web design and maintenance, routine office assistance, or volunteering professional services.
For example, several architects, lawyers, and museum professionals have offered pro bono assistance with various Pacific Ethnographic projects.
Research Assistant positions may vary depending upon current projects.

Contributions of any amount are always welcome. Upon receipt, we will send you a thank you note and an acknowledgement letter that can serve as your receipt for tax purposes.

The Pacific Ethnographic internship program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

Theses sponsorships range from $500 to $50,000 and are open to individuals and organizations.
